Manage the flow of notes for continuous curration of the Zettelkasten

Edit

Beside tags and keywords notes come with a third set of labels: flow tags. In most representations of a note, we do not show the flow tags. We use them for administrative functions, e.g. selecting the notes to be displayed.

Examples:

  • In the inbox, we show you the notes with the flow tag inbox.
  • We help you to improve your note collection and check the notes for different characteristics. So the summary should be as short as possible. If you no longer want us to warn you that a note has a very long summary, then set the flow tag accept-summary.
We use Flow tags to mark different processing states of notes and support the capture and editing process.

Capture your thoughts whereever you are

In ThoughtTank, inbox sources give users an overview of places where they might have collected new ideas in the past. You should integrate these into your Zettelkasten.

More efficiency and productivity through process support

ThoughtTank analyses your notes and gives concrete advice on how you can further develop or improve your notes in the next step.

Process support in place of self-discipline

Luhmann’s self-discipline in the care of a zettelkasten is replaced by ThoughtTank in parts by guidelines, method and process support.

Tag

With tags you can structure your note box further, for example to create subtopics or cross the Separation of independent logical units introduced by topics.

Supporting the identification of related thoughts

Based on keywords, Thought Tank suggests related notes. Use keywords to mark the essential concepts that you deal with in a note.

Separation of independent logical units

Thought Tank uses topics to create largely independent contexts.
